Why do companies hire MBAs and MSAs?

Business School students They are looking for people who can help them solve difficult problems in uncertain environments; who can make sound decisions by researching internal and external information; who can communicate, work well with others and lead teams to achieve goals. The University of Maine MBA and MSA programs prepare students to think critically, to analyze carefully, and to use their interpersonal and team skills to help organizations build or maintain a competitive advantage.

Our finance students have found successful, rewarding careers with world-class companies such as Universal Studios, State Street Financial, UBS, Bangor Savings Bank, Merrill Bank, and CitiBank among others. Our management students have gained a reputation as hard-working and smart employees with top companies such as Hannaford Brothers, Liberty Mutual, and Jackson Laboratories among others. Our MSA students similarly have gained a reputation among top accounting firms as hard-working, smart, creative employees with companies such as Price Waterhouse Coopers, Baker Newman & Noyes, and Berry Dunn McNeill & Parker among others

One requirement of the MBA and MSA programs are internships. These real work experiences enable our students to gain valuable knowledge so that they can "hit the ground running" when they join a company after graduation. Some of the companies who hire our MBA and MSA students as interns include Hannaford Brothers Supermarkets, AEWC (Advanced Engineering Wood Composites Center), and Bangor Savings Bank among many others.
